In 2012, more youth in Pinellas County feel that it is wrong to engage in drug usage than in 2002. Over that 10 year period, the following change in attitudes were noted:
- 17.8% increase in students who think smoking cigarettes is wrong
- 15.1% increase in students who think drinking regularly is wrong
- 6.0% increase in students who think smoking marijuana is wrong
- 3.1% increase in students who think using illicit drugs is wrong

From 2002 to 2012 in Pinellas County, there was a decrease in the percent of youth who tried drugs before the age of 13.
- Trying alcohol decreased from 38.2% to 22.2%
- Regular alcohol use in youth under the age of 13 decreased by 55.3%
- Tobacco use decreased over the 10 year period by 71.3%
- Marijuana use decreased by 31.2%
