The Fort Myers News Press compiled and shared a “Pitch for Prevention” each inning during the Fort Myers Miracle Baseball game on May 2nd. The event was called Blogapalooza and each blog posted featured perspectives from people in Southwest Florida on how drugs affect our community and how we can keep them out. Articles ranged in topic from advice and tips on prevention to ways you can help tackle the problem right here at home.

LiveFree! Executive Director Jackie Griffin shared the following:

A good tip for prevention comes in from LiveFree! Coalition and they say, ‘get your hands dirty’. Well, what they’re talking about it doing an activity with your hands, such as cooking a gourmet meal, making an art piece, painting, making home-made ice cream from scratch, or even a physical activity like swimming, can get you feeling great! With activities in which you’re physically involved, you’re able to be in the present moment, not thinking about anything else other than the activity in which you’re focused on. Activities like cooking, art or a physical sport are not only a great activity for your health, but also for prevention. So go ahead, and get your hands dirty!
